Dr. Paula Gordon

Diversity Equity Inclusion and Justice Coach

Dr. Gordon is an accomplished educational leader and teacher with over 20 years of experience leading schools across three continents: North America, Africa, and Asia. Her extensive experience in both the United States and internationally provides a unique perspective on building leadership capacity, developing robust systems and processes, fostering an affirming and rigorous learning culture, and implementing effective instructional practices that promote student growth and achievement.

Dr. Gordon’s career trajectory is marked by a series of impactful roles and achievements. She has served in charter public schools and traditional public schools in the United States, and international schools in Venezuela, South Africa, and Kuwait. Her rich instructional experience includes participation in the National Principal Residency Fellowship (New Leaders ‘13), Principal Training Center for International School Leaders, and recognition with the New Jersey Governor’s Teachers Award. Notable leadership positions she has held include Founding Principal at Nova Pioneer in South Africa and Principal at the Universal American School of Kuwait. In the United States, she has been an Assistant Principal at E.L. Haynes Charter School in Washington, DC, Dean of School Culture at Uncommon Schools in New York, and Dean of Culture and Teacher at North Star Academy, Uncommon Schools in New Jersey.

Dr. Gordon’s expertise encompasses instructional leadership, leadership development, change management, coaching, and the creation of effective school learning cultures. She is adept at utilizing data-driven curriculum approaches and building inclusive, affirming, and collaborative cultures with diverse stakeholders. Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Dr. Gordon is a servant-leader dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to a quality education.

Dr. Gordon holds a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Psychology from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Howard University in Washington, DC, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy and urban systems from Rutgers University, in New Jersey. Her personal interests include traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
